Cone Crushers - Principle of Operation



Cone crushers are designed for crushing rocks with compressive strength not exceeding 300 MPa. These include rocks such as limestone, sandstone, basalt, granite, and quartzite.

The material is crushed in the working chamber — a conical bowl where the cone swings around. The final size of the crushed material is determined by the gap in the discharge opening and the angle of the cone.

By design and purpose, these machines are divided into three categories:

  • Coarse cone crushers (ККД);
  • Medium cone crushers (КСД);
  • Fine cone crushers (КМД);

To classify the size of the output fraction, the crusher models are also labeled as follows:

  • Gr (for coarse crushing);
  • T (for fine crushing);

These high-performance machines can continuously process non-plastic materials with moisture content up to 4% and compressive strength up to 300 MPa. The main mechanism of the cone crusher is a stationary outer cone where the movable inner cone crushes the material by grinding it against the outer cone walls.

Design Features of КСД and КМД

Crushers of these series have many identical components and differ mainly in the size and shape of the cones.

More elongated cones are used for finer crushing.

The number in the model name indicates the diameter of the crusher cone base in mm. This helps to easily navigate model names and dimensions — КМД-2200 and КСД-2200 have the same base diameter but differ in the minimum size of the discharge opening.

The crushing surfaces of КМД-2200 and КСД-2200 cones are made of high-manganese steel, allowing them to withstand high loads and contact stresses.

Bearing steel is used for suspensions in КСД and КМД crushers.

The mechanisms of this group use liquid lubrication. Oil, under pressure, not only lubricates but also cools moving surfaces such as gears, thrust bearings, and the cone shaft.

The entire system is equipped with various sensors monitoring oil consumption, temperature, and pressure.

КМД-2200 and КСД-2200 crushers are high-tech, robust machines. The outer cone of КМД-2200 and КСД-2200 is secured with amortization springs, preventing machine damage when especially hard materials enter. The absence of idle gaps during operation makes КСД-2200 and КМД-2200 extremely productive.

КМД-1750 and КСД-1750 crushers are high-performance installations designed for crushing various types of ores, stones, and rocks. They also have no idle operation, ensuring continuous production.

КМД-1750 and КСД-1750 cone crushers serve for many years without replacement or repairs.

КМД-1750 Crusher

On the modern market, this type of equipment is available in two versions with different markings: for coarse and fine crushing (Gr and T, respectively). The КМД-1750 crusher has a cone diameter of 1750 mm and a powerful engine (160 kW). This combination allows processing 85-110 cubic meters of hard rock per hour. With a cone diameter of 1750 mm, there is a feed size limit of 70 mm for both ore and non-ore rock and extracted minerals, excluding plastic materials.

КСД-1750 Cone

The КСД-1750 cone is a sought-after model in the mining industry. It is reliable, highly protected, and safe to use. The КСД-1750 (T) cone provides output up to 100-190 cubic meters per hour, handling rocks up to 160 mm in diameter. It allows adjusting the discharge opening size between 15-30 mm.

Cone crusher КСД-1750 Gr can ensure productivity up to 170-320 cubic meters of finished material per hour with optimized production processes. A powerful engine allows larger material — up to 200 mm — to be processed.

КМД-1750 and КСД-1750 cone crushers serve for many years without replacement or repairs.
