Drum screens (trommels) grade materials by size.
Trommels are used for dry screening and washing of rocks. In dry screening, the drum screen separates bulk materials such as gravel, coal, peat, sand, etc., by fractions. In washing, the trommel can clean gold-bearing sand with minor clay content, clay-laden ore and sludge, coal with clay or clayey sandstones, etc.
